The event "Networking Event for Initiatives and Projects on Climate Change Adaptation" was held on June 12, 2024, in Athens, organized by the "LIFE-IP AdaptInGR - Boosting the Implementation of Adaptation Policy across Greece" project. Alexia Spyridonidou from the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) participated, sharing DesirMED’s practices and engaging with experts and projects in climate adaptation.
Thematic work tables focused on four key areas to enhance adaptation policy implementation across Greece:
- Natural environment
- Urban environment and resilience
- Tourism and coastal zones
- Adaptation plans for regions and networks
Key discussion outcomes included:
- The added value of synergies and cooperation between projects
- The need to amplify benefits for regions
- The crucial role of governance and the funding-financing sector
- The necessity of integrating underrepresented sectors, such as tourism, in adaptation projects
Among the key highlights of the event was the launch of the Greek Climate Change Adaptation Hub, a platform that aims -among others- to consolidate climate change adaptation projects, good practices, events, material, etc. DesirMED is one of the projects that will be featured in this platform.
Finally, this event was an excellent opportunity for DesirMED to get in touch with projects with the potential to coordinate future activities and efforts.
