DesirMED highlighted during the SoilTribes Twinning Programme visits
The Municipality of Fundão and the city of Viborg (Denmark) are strengthening their cooperation through the Twinning Programme of the European project SoilTribes, funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Union under the Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe”.
The central idea of these exchanges is simple: each city presents projects that they consider inspiring and potentially replicable in other contexts, fostering peer learning and the development of solutions adapted to local challenges.
The delegations of both municipalities, composed of strategic stakeholders from local government, research, businesses and civil society, had the opportunity to explore innovative projects and solutions related to soil regeneration and sustainability.
Within this framework, Fundão presented to the Viborg delegation the Center for the Improvement of Autochthonous Breeds, an infrastructure partially funded by the DesirMED project, where several activities are also carried out under its scope. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the work being developed, explore methodologies, and discuss practices that enhance sustainability and promote the valorisation of local resources.
In this context, DesirMED was widely referred to as a relevant example of an initiative with direct impact on the valorisation of natural resources and the adaptation of the territory to climate change, underlining the importance of articulating different projects and international partnerships.
