Our partner SUNCE, was invited by Dalmatija Television to share views on green areas in Split, Croatia and interlinked climate adaptation efforts. During this interview, highlighted the main advantages of green areas: 

• improving air quality - vegetation filters air pollutants reducing the presence of harmful substances
• temperature regulation - trees provide shade and more comfortable temperatures during the hot summer months
• recreational value - parks, gardens and green areas become places of gathering, playing and socializing
• biodiversity - preservation and increase of green areas contributes to ecosystem preservation
• storm water management - reduces the burden on urban infrastructure, such as sewerage systems, by absorbing part of the storm water and reducing the risk of flood
• psychological and health benefits - greens have been proven to have a positive effect on mental health, reducing stress and anxiety

The role of DesirMED in preserving the environment by prioritizing NbS was highlighted,  recognizing these solutions as the best way for adapting to climate change.
