DesirMED celebrated the European Researchers' Night on September 26-27 with activities focused on science and sustainability, organized by the University of Beira Interior (UBI).
A highlight of the event was the "Ecoheroes" board game, designed to raise awareness about climate change. In this giant game, students moved across a board, learning about environmental issues in an engaging way, where everyone can make decisions to help their territory adapt to extreme climatic phenomena such as droughts, floods, and/or volcanoes.
The game was developed by UBI researchers and professors from various departments, with creative input from the university's Marketing and Communication team and in collaboration with DesirMED team, in partnership with Comunidade Intermunicipal das Beiras e Serra da Estrela.
The opening session featured UBI officials and marked the launch of the "Sustainability Wall," a project involving children and students to promote environmental awareness.
Other activities included a Science Fair and a "Youth Parliament" session, bringing the community and researchers together to inspire interest in science.
