DesirMED partner SUNCE, organized four workshops in two elementary schools in Split - Croatia, Dobri and Brda, as part of its educational efforts. These activities were also an opportunity to communicate the DesirMED project and announce an exciting competition for schools that will take place next year as part of the Earth Day celebration. DesirMED will help financially with arranging the green areas of schools and creating school botanical gardens. These educational workshops aim to engage students in the competition and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to design and build sustainable garden spaces, promoting environmental stewardship and climate adaptation through nature-based solutions.

At Elementary School Dobri, two interactive workshops were held:

• Garden Composting Workshop: Permakultura Dalmacija crafted a garden composter for the school garden, while teaching students practical tips on composting, including the benefits of shredding dry materials found in the field.
• Introduction to Permaculture: Permakultura Dalmacija led an engaging session introducing students to the principles of permaculture design, highlighting the importance of collaboration in permaculture practices.

At Elementary School Brda, two workshops were organized that included:

• Permaculture Design Principles: Permakultura Dalmacija facilitated a session introducing students to the basics of permaculture and its collaborative approach.
• Permaculture Analysis: Permakultura Dalmacija performed a hands-on permaculture analysis of their environment, which is the most important pillar for climate resilience and long-term environmental and socio-economic benefits. 

The workshops emphasized the importance of teaching both students and educators the fundamentals of permaculture, enabling them to recognize nature-based solutions as a critical strategy for climate change adaptation.
